Command Sergeant Major Leo Barrington, Jr.

Command Sergeant Major Barrington was born in Monticello, Florida on June 4, 1958.

Barrington enlisted in the U.S. Army in July, 1977 and received basic training at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. His first assignment was 141st Field Artillery Schwabich Gmund, Germany. He was assigned to 329th Field Artillery in Ft. Carlson, Colorado.

Barrington also was assigned to the 981st MP Company in Kitzen, Germany. Command Sergeant. Major Barrington began his recruiting career in January, 1988 in Fullerton, California.

Barrington served as a recruiter and on production station commander and a limited production station manager.

Barrington then served as a Master Trainer for the Santa Ana Recruiting Battalion, and later became a Company First Sergeant of the Orange County Company, Redlands Company and a Stockton Recruiting Company in Stockton, California.

Command Sergeant Major Barrington went on to serve at the Recruiting and Retention School as a Senior Instructor for the Company Commanders and Commanders Course.

In 2000, Command Sergeant Major Barrington was assigned to the Columbia Recruiting Battalion as the Interim Command Sergeant Major Command Sergeant. Major Barrington was promoted to Command Sergeant Major in 2001 and was reassigned back to the Recruiting and Retention School as the Director of the Army Recruiting Course. Sergeant Major Barrington was then assigned to the New York Recruiting Battalion, also served as the Command Sergeant Major of the Minneapolis Recruiting Battalion.

Sergeant Major Barrington also became a Sergeant Major of the 6th Recruiting Brigade Operations Director. His last recruiting assignment was with the Dallas Recruiting Battalion where he served as the Education Counselor for the Dallas Recruiting Battalion.

Command Sergeant Major Barrington's education includes a Bachelor's Degree of Business Administration; Command Sgt. Major's Course; the First Sergeant Course; the Guidance Counselor Course; the Station Commander's Course; the AMED Course; and the Recruiting Training Course.


Decorations and Awards include the Legion of Merit; 10 ARCON's; 13 Army Achievement Medals; the Recruiting Medallions; and the Recruiting Ring.
